late bronze age sword                                                                       copyright national museums of scotland

the following artefacts were found by metal detecting in the county of Moray in Scotland over a period of 17 years by myself or otherwise stated by my friend, this part of Scotland largely ignored by historians has played a its part in shaping the history of this nation . in the past the items found, show that down through the years this small corner of Scotland has had links to the bronze age kings of Ireland  the emperors of Rome the yarls of the Vikings to the medieval royalty of Europe.

these items have been mostly been claimed under treasure trove law in Scotland and now reside  in Elgin museum here in morayshire and hopefully further artefacts that are found locally will be housed there as well. Elgin museum is  self funded and well worth a look if your visiting the area as well as my different items on show it has a world class fossil display..

my name is Alistair McPherson born and bred in morayshire, and i have been detecting for 17 years and i can say that i have been very lucky with what i have found so far..this site is not in any way a professional site but just a way to show the historical richness of the locality of my birth. the sword above is something i am very proud of as it is a very rare type due to the cast hilt plates. as normally the hilt plates would have been made of organic material.

all the finds so far shown on here where found using a whites xlt with the stock coil....

any comments or questions on the site please feel free to email myself at  gm7fpn@aol.com and will try to answer to the best of my abilities

all finds i make are reported in the way laid down by law in Scotland and only detect on land where i have permission. see
